The Office of the Coordinator for AI Courses at KNUST is dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence education, research, and innovation across the University. We empower students, faculty, and the wider community with the competencies needed to thrive in an AI-enabled world. Our mission is to design, coordinate, and sustain high-quality AI and digital skills learning pathways that are academically rigorous, ethically grounded, and locally relevant, while fostering global competitiveness.
We believe that AI is not simply a technological tool but a transformative capability that can enhance teaching, learning, research, and societal impact. Guided by curriculum and instructional design best practices including outcome-based education, constructive alignment, and inclusive learning principles, our office works across all colleges with academic leaders and subject-matter experts to integrate AI into curricula, assessments, and professional skills development.
Our initiatives include:
- University-wide foundational AI literacy courses
- A central pool of self-paced AI-focused modules accessible to all students
- Capacity building programmes for academic and administrative staff
- Development of certificate pathways and digital badges to recognise competencies
- Strategic partnerships to support sustainability, innovation, and real-world application
By aligning AI education with institutional priorities and national development goals, we are building a future-ready learning ecosystem that prepares graduates not just for today’s challenges, but for tomorrow’s opportunities.
