Prof. Eric Appau Asante, born at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region of Ghana is an Associate Professor of Educational Innovations.

Professor Eric Appau Asante is a distinguished scholar, educational innovator, and higher education leader with extensive experience in digital education, institutional transformation, and international collaboration. He is currently the Coordinator of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Courses at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he leads the University’s institution-wide AI literacy initiative, including the design, coordination, and rollout of mandatory AI courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Professor Asante is the Pioneer and Immediate Past Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, where he provided the foundational leadership for the University’s e-learning ecosystem. As the founding director, he led the conceptualisation, establishment, and operationalisation of structured online and blended learning at KNUST.

At the international level, Professor Asante serves as an Ambassador of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) for the Africa Region. In this role, he supports engagement between African universities and the wider Commonwealth higher education community, promoting institutional collaboration, academic mobility, professional development, and access to global research and capacity-building opportunities.

Professor Asante’s academic and professional interests include e-learning and digital education, instructional design, curriculum development, educational leadership, artificial intelligence in education, and quality assurance in online learning. He is a certified Quality Matters (QM) Coordinator and Reviewer and has led and contributed to several national and international projects focused on strengthening teaching and learning in digitally evolving and resource-constrained contexts.

He is also an author and mentor, actively engaged in supporting educators, institutional leaders, and emerging scholars. Through teaching, research, policy engagement, and service, Professor Asante continues to shape conversations and practice around digital transformation, responsible AI adoption, and the future of higher education in Ghana, Africa, and beyond.
