AI 150: Fundamentals of AI for All

Undergraduates
1 Semester
Online

AI 150 introduces students from all disciplines to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its responsible use in academic, professional, and everyday contexts. The course is designed to build foundational AI literacy, enabling students to understand what AI is, how it works at a basic level, and how it increasingly influences learning, work, decision-making, and society.

Students will explore key concepts such as AI systems and applications, data and algorithms, ethical and responsible AI principles, bias and fairness, academic integrity, privacy, and the safe and effective use of AI tools. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, ethical judgment, and responsible engagement, rather than technical programming skills.

The course is self-paced, fully online, and requires no prior background in computer science or AI. Through short readings, videos, discussions, and quizzes, students will develop practical skills for evaluating AI outputs, using AI tools responsibly in their studies, and understanding their implications for their chosen fields.

AI 150 is a mandatory University-wide course for all KNUST undergraduate students and must be completed as part of the undergraduate academic requirements. Successful completion equips students with essential AI awareness and responsible use skills necessary for higher education and the modern world.
